Dr. Frank Byrne, St. Mary’s president, has been recognized as one of the 50 Most Influential Physician Executives in Healthcare (he’s ranked #15) by Modern Healthcare and Modern Physician magazines. Nine of the top 15 hold national leadership positions.

The program recognizes physicians who have taken leadership roles through public or private organizations. The selection process gave equal weight to voting by the public and subjective review by magazine editors. Initially more than 11,700 nominations were received, and the top 100 names receiving the most votes were placed on the final ballot.

Dr. Byrne is also under consideration as one of Modern Healthcare’s 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare. He, along with SSM Health Care CEO Sr. Mary Jean Ryan, FSM, and Jim Sanger, president and CEO of SSM-St. Louis, were among 414,000 people nominated and among 300 candidates who made the final ballot.

Voting will go through June 24. The top 100 vote-getters will make up the final ranking.
