Dean Clinic is SSMHC/WI's 350-member physician multi-specialty partner based in Dane County, with specialists providing outreach to rural underserved markets. Founded in 1904, Dean Clinic is a privately held for-profit physician owned and physician-governed Wisconsin corporation that owns and operates a network of clinics and medical facilities.
SSMHC/WI is co-owner with Dean Clinic of Dean Health Plan which has the largest HMO market share in southern Wisconsin covering 300,000 lives.
St. Mary's Dean Ventures (SMDV), formed in 1989, is owned jointly with Dean Clinic and has 150 primary care physicians, 22 optometrists and 30 physician extenders at 40 locations in south-central Wisconsin rural areas outside of Dane County. It also includes three ambulatory surgery centers.
